As well as failing to install KDE on a dodgy OpenBSD system, I've also read a book. 'Distress', by Greg Egan. As with the other Egan books I've read, it's highly speculative middle-future sci-fi. The year 2055, self-genetic-modification being more commonplace than plastic surgery is today, and, as Egan seems to enjoy, the end of life as we know it.
