Am I the only one who sees ads for nicotine gum or patches and, as a non-smoker, is tempted? After all, I appreciate the effects of caffeine, and I'm told nicotine is similar. I'm a non-smoker because I don't like the smell of smoke or the feel of inhaling hot airborne solids, but neither of those are an issue with patches or gum. Especially patches, such a convenient drug-application mechanism, not even using up an orifice. Caffeine-like effects dispersed gently over the entire day, surely that's a good idea?

maybe you should just try an activity to get your mind off it like absailing or even just still life painting.blogger 007 |

I have plenty of activities I want to do, that's *why* caffeine is good. I can't do all the things I want to do in a day, in a day. |

I once put some patches on and had a cig; i fell over. Wondering if it's possible to overdose on nicotine. |

I'm a smoker. The ads make me spark up... |

Melange. Nicotine is actually very lethal. Don't take this as law, but...I believe a single drop of purified nicotine would kill a human. |

Have at it, Raven. Slap on a patch and drink a mocha latte. |

The patches and gums do actually give you the nicotine of about 6 cigarretes over time. That is why you donts swallow the gum or eat the time released patch. A miligram of pure nicotine will be lethal in half of humans, but patches only provide an 8th of that and over time and the gums are much less |

Being allergic to the crap they put in cigarettes (besides the tobacco), I have been tempted by those tidy, drug-infused little patches. Unfortunately I'm a wussy when it comes to chemicals, so I doubt I'll ever try it. Perhaps I'll persuade one of my more experimental, annoying contemporaries to mush up a patch in a Red Bull. |
