Books: The Black Company series by Glen Cook is rather excellent if you fancy a bit of a flop into lazy easy-reading fantasy novels. The characters are stereotypes of themselves, the humour is puerile, the plot is fairly standard fantasy fare, but it's fun and it's easy. Its main selling point is that we get to follow a pleasantly disreputable bunch, rather than the usual moralistic save-the-world fantasy ponces. They're cops on the edge who play by their own rules! Except they're not cops.
