Post about configuring Linux on an HP Pavilion ze5170 deleted because all the links were out of date and that machine is out of date and someone asked me to remove one of the links.

Does Linux some how favour ATI cards? That laptop's obviously got a Radeon in it, but I remember having X problems, and fixing them by putting a Radeon in them. Maybe "Radeon" is the secret 'fix-it' word. |

X lacks specific menu-based drivers for the card in question, so you have to put 'radeon' in manually, as opposed to the more usual method using xf86config. Slackware, but it makes little difference. Most of the stuff I did was found from SuSe and Debian mailing lists. |
