Does America have a ready supply of specifically English foods? Non-vegetarian baked beans, Marmite, worcester sauce etc. From things you've said, and items on your wishlist, I'm guessing no.
When Brits go abroad they tend to take with them a massive supply of such foods, such as the Football manager Graham Souness going to Italy with suitcase of Heinz Spaghetti.
With this in mind I would imagine that the first British setellers brought over such foods, and keep traditions alive. But apparently not. Suprising really, they took over English but not Piccalilli, I know which I prefer. I country without Picalilli is like a country without crumpets. Infedels. |
