The Prisoner: Good enough to be referenced in at least two Simpsons episodes, Patrick McGoohan is the king of unnerving over-pleasantness.

The prisoner is probably my favorite 'live-action' (er, non-animated) television series. i havent seen anything on televison since that compares with the incredible sets and unorthodox/inventive plotlines. Its an example of how incredible (intellegent and amusing) televison entertainment could actually be, provided something more went into mainstream development. I just re-watched the final episode last night on PBS. By the way, I can think of one episode (where Homer is abducted and taken to the village) that references the Prisoner, but what is the other episode? If i havent seen it i would like to download it. |

The one in which Homer has the family join a cult. During Marge's escape, involving crocodiles and such, she is chased by a Rover. I think there was momentary Prisoner music for it, too. |

ah i do remeber that episode. I saw it before i ever was introduced to the prisoner. I guess i just never made the connection. |

for the sake of bogging down the blog with extra snippets of text, i will comment further. Being somewhat interested in David Lynch's thought processes, I should clarify my eariler comment. Twin Peaks, even with its failings, was also a wonderful example of a well done televison series. The first eight or so episodes were nothing short of brilliant. |

There is a somewhat disturbing pattern developing here. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Simpsons, but I'm not sure that mention on the show should be used as a barometer of whether a movie is good or not! :0) |
