This may have been conceived by George Orwell but it was perfected by the East Germans during the Cold War. As I recall the Stasi had one third of the population secretly spying on the other two thirds. Freaky. (But they must hjave had one hell of a company picnic.)
Anyway, it seems obvious that, in the wake of the Cold War, the Americans must have employed some of the former East German intelligence wizards. Like they did with Werner von Braun back in the fifties, when the Nazis no longer had need of rocket scientists. |
