I expect most of you have friends or acquaintances who forward you hoax virus warnings and chain letters. Send those people to here.

Ahahahaha. Nice one sir. I've had a few virus warnings too. A guy at work came up to me telling me that his friend had said we had a virus and that I (as sys-admin as well as designer) had to delete a particular file because Mcafee couldn't pick it up. I did a quick search on google for the filename he mentioned and instantly all results were '[filename] hoax virus warning' Heh. So thanks for the url, I'll be sure to forward it on ;) |

Well, it was a bit supsicious being told by someone that I'd never met that my system was infected with a virus by accident from him, but to be honest, that just weirded me out. It was the 'Mcafee can't pickup this virus and you have to delete these files manually' bit that got me thinking. Plus it's the same guy who complained about extra icons appearing on his desktop. After questioning, it turns out he had just installed some apps! Doh! ;) So I wasn't about to believe everything he said! icy |

I have a friend who sends me about two stupid sites every day, and now I have good payback that isn't too serious. It's been awhile seen I've laughed that hard. Thank you |

Alternatively, send such people to somewhere like http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org and they might actually shut up. Are there less viral hoaxes around these days, out of interest, or have I successfully managed to educate/destroy my stupid acquaintances? |
