|Painting a house is fun. For the first ten minutes or so. Then it's tedious and irritating. "I'm bored now, can we be finished yet?"
You must make house painting a game involving cats, a small aubergine, and fireworks or other explosive materials. Possibly some paint, though this is considered over doing it by some decorators.
Well, it would have gone faster if you'd asked more people to help. If Harte and I'd known you were painting, we would have helped. Were you able to finish without going too insane?
It's still far from finished (as of Monday, about a quarter done). Help from non-inept people is welcome.
Well, that depends on how much is left by Fri. I work Mon-Thurs this week. Let me know progress by that point. : ) Mooo...
Couple of thousand $US thrown my way (plane fares and such, painting skills come free) and I'm there. I'm actually rather good at house painting, since my parents have always had a DIY fetish, but often managed to be too busy working to actually do the DIY stuff. Which means that I've managed to do up a number of houses, let's say 15 as a rough estimate. Hmm, I must have lived in 15 houses or so then. Ah well. This would go some way to explaining why I rarely feel at home in any given place. Vaguely interested to know if 15 houses lived in is above/on par/below average for a 25 year old.
Raven is an excellent control subject for this investigation in fact, being born just three days before myself. How many houses has Raven lived in, and so on? How many did he have to paint himself, the paint pooling in his nappy?
How many houses? Let me count the stays...
I was born in Edinburgh (och aye the noo),
And moved to Eflinch Lane when I was two,
Then 53 The Green for most of my days.
My parents divorced, a messy affair,
We moved in with friends in Kirkby Lonsdale,
It wasn't too long before we hit the trail,
and moved on to Burton, or somewhere 'round there.
Then Burton again, this time not a trailer,
And back to Kirkby for nigh on a year,
Then Leck was my home, where cows would assail ya,
Then to Lancaster, with the neighbours too near.
Then three houses 'round Stafford,
A long stay with a girl,
Three more around Oxford,
Then a trip round the world,
And upon arriving in America, I got tired of rhyming and decided to just mutter something about four places since. As for painting, or indeed any sort of decorating, this is the first, and only under duress. I'd just hang dark cloth everywhere and have done, if it were up to me.
So, twenty is the answer, rather surprisingly. I thought it was less than one a year, and with 6-8 years in The Green that would imply less than 20. I suppose I had some shorter stays that I tend to forget about.
