This entry is for me, and will probably not interest anyone else. Endicia are a company who do internet postage, and apparently print proper official-style labels with barcodes and all, which, apparently, will make shipping a book non-internationally cost 60 cents less. Except that it will cost $10 a month, and requires a specific type of labels. Mm. Or there's PitneyWorks that's cheaper per month but a bit less sparkly.

Actually pretty much all of R&D at Stamps.com has taken your video game quiz within the last few days. So being an asteroid I had to meander to the rest of your bloggings and so noticed this. So out of company loyalty I had to mention Stamps.com exists also and actually has 80% of the market for internet postage. |

Mm, I knew of that too, but they're more expensive than either of those I mentioned, and their tech looks worse than that of Endicia, and no better than that of Pitney. Thanks for trying though. |

At $4.49 a month Stamps.com is cheaper than Endicia, but what you mean by "tech looks worse than..." I have no idea. Needless to say with 80% of the market we're doing OK. |
RavenBlack |
$4.49 *minimum*. Opting for that would make it 10% of postal charges, which would almost certainly exceed Endicia's prices. By worse tech, I mean the software doesn't appear to have as many features that I would use. |
Richard |
well their website's down right now (probably got 10 more hits today than usual) so I can't check out their "features". |

While James' approach was quite friendly, I'm not very impressed with the Richard approach. A disbelieving tone towards a potential customer isn't very endearing. And no counterargument for my call on your price quote? For shame. |

You're correct, if you use over $100 in postage a month Endicia is $6/month cheaper than Stamps.com. Otherwise, Stamps.com's Simple Plan is cheaper. Endicia supports more rate classes right now -- Stamps.com has focused on innovating on new forms of postage (see http://www.stamps.com/company/news/20011024b/). What are you going to be mailing most of the time? |

Small paperback books. (which is to say "media mail, less than 1lb") |
