|So, Revelations is still pretty much on track for being a novel in a month. The chapters are approximately averaging their ideal length, now, for the story to end between fifty and sixty thousand words. The storyline is vaguely following the plan, with only minor deviations which I think are improvements - deep evil plots are more fun than just raw sci-fantasy, right? And to top off the good things, I've added a cunning system for making myself write, other than just the pacer and Eperdu; I got myself a roleplaying game, and I allow myself half an hour of play for every 750 words. Cue sleep deprivation.
|My, that is a cunning system. And... very familiar. Purely coincidental, I am sure *grin*|
Incidentally, I should probably note that my taunting of you is designed to make you write more, so that your having more words than me inspires me to write more, also. Hurrah.
|Egad. 'Tis so cunning a system you could paint whiskers on it and call it a fox. Though then you'd have an Evil Fox around which might devour your wall-less apple tree. (A cunning seque into a plug for my own efforts, which do appear to involve the threat posed to apple trees by foxes on some level, currently taking pre-orders through the more disreputable book depositories of Ladbroke Grove and such :-) Mmm, that's actually a rather good incentive scheme. The bugger won't run on Linux though. Back to nethack. Unavoidably, my ongoing novel is available at http://www.geocities.com/tom_massey/novel.txt . This is the result of a nifty Perl script that updates my RavenBlog word count and at the same time uploads a copy to Geocities for safe keeping. Any comments welcome. Except about the shite formatting, it's only a backup copy after all. Live long and prosper.|
