Goodness, the Australian department of immigration is fantastically efficient. It took about one hour and no ink to get an Electronic Working Holiday Visa, for a 12-month Australia visit. Government departments aren't supposed to be that good. They must be broken.

Going to Adelaide then? |

Mm. Though that's only related to divorce-ness in that it's being 12 months rather than 5. |

BTW, if you can convince them to upgrade that to a permanent resident visa (telling them you're a skilled IT professional might work, and I vaguely think that being British would help), and live here for 2 years, you're elegible to become an Australian citizen without nearly as much fuss as you went through with the INS. Need to speak English, essentially. Apparently they process all applications in under a month. This would grant you the right to wrestle crocodiles without being eaten. I know this because my Mum is about to take out dual British/Australian citizenship in order to embark on a lucrative crocodile wrestling career. Luckily for me she's waited thirty years to become Australian because due to recent changes in Australian law she no longer has to give up her British citizenship, and due to recent changes in British law I can become a British citizen through having a British mother (used to have to be father when born in the particular group of years I was). Hoorah! |

And of course, you are always welcome to a bed in my house if it's useful to you at any time. I expect you'd hate Sydney most delightfully, so encourage you to come. |

Austrailia always looked wonderful to me. I wonder if their whole government runs that smoothly... |

No. This is just the bit that sucks prospective immigrants in. When they get here they can learn the horrible truth. |

Hoorah for IRC logs. ------ 00:16:28 <Raven> Mm, he offered crash-space or something, I think. 00:16:33 <Raven> I wasn't quite sure. You know how he writes. ------ Tsk. I thought I was being clear. Wonderful compliment of course. Ah well. To clarify: if ($raven eq "lost in Australia without a place to sleep" || $raven eq "really bored" || $raven eq "raped by koalas" || $raven eq "$raven") { $mi_casa = $su_casa } |

I did understand originally, of course, and you're a lovely lovely man. |

If I ever move to Australia and have an extra bed, yu're welcome to it to ;) All in all, an excellent time to be anywhere but America. Nothing like being routinely called un-American for exercising my right to free speech and disagreement with the government... the worst part of being American is being surrounded by Americans. |
