|Speaking of TV, it broke again when I changed the channel. Recognising this sort of random behaviour, I knew the appropriate solution - violence. A good clout, and it lived again. It seems there's about a 50% chance that it dies each time I change channel, and a 50% chance of recovery each time I hit it. This is the art of technology maintenance.
|Ah. I have a similar problem with my Sony Trinitron Monitor (age 2 years). Once every 900 or so times that i press the power key it phases into a special bug frenzied mode. The screen resorts to about half the normal size, warps, and the resolution becomes so blurry it is nearly impossible to read any standard fonts.|
Of course the on screen display suddenly changes to japanese and every function locks up.
The solution: Electronic torture.
I flick the power button at unhuman speeds, adding variation by occasionally unplugging the power cord several times. After a minute or so of this, and a few good whacks, everything is up and running again.
I have proven to my fickle little electron machine that i am still the master.
